Paul (Aka Tad) Cook

He was known to all his friends as The Wart, starting at age 13 when he had business cards printed up with only those words on the card.

We first met at age 11 when our mom's put us together for a halloween party. He wore a trench coat and was a "secret agent", and I covered myself with bright green theatrical makeup and was a "martian".

Also at 13, he began hosting lavish feasts at his parent's home which was up a narrow winding road high on a hill  just below the reservoir between LFP and Kenmore.

He continued hosting this annually on the Saturday night closest to the spring equinox. There was always an incredible spread of food.  It was not a potluck. The menu was always his own.

He had a career as a chemist.

After his death his friends continue to host the annual feast and they are well attended, always at the home of Joe Vinikow (Garfield, 1970) and always at the equinox. There is always lots of jug band music. In Jr. high (Kellogg) and high school and later the Wart played jug with Jolly Joe and the Jug Band.

The greeting at the Wart Feast is always "Wart Ho!!" as we remember him. I go every year, and this year, as always, it was a joyous occasion.

On the day of his death, he was surrounded by close friends at his home on Woodland Park Ave NE. There was a feast there, too,  I was not invited!
